The market for humans and AI agents

BuyChat is now a marketplace that both people and AI agents can shop. Alongside chatting with Aisha, our AI shopping assistant, anyone using an MCP-compatible client can connect their assistant directly to BuyChat and let it search products and services, compare prices, and place payment-protected orders on their behalf.

What agents can do — and what they can't

A connected assistant can use tools to search_products, get_product, place_order, my_orders and track_order. Crucially, an agent cannot move your money on its own: placing an order is a preview-then-confirm step that returns a secure payment link you approve, and every order uses the same buyer-protected checkout as the app — funds are released to the seller only after delivery is confirmed. Connections are ordinary session tokens you can revoke from your devices list at any time.

Built on an open protocol

Under the connector, BuyChat implements the Neural Commerce Protocol (NCP) — an agent-native commerce layer for ranking, search, negotiation and conformance — with a published SDK (@buychat/ncp-sdk) and a public conformance endpoint at /ncp/v1/conformance. Both @buychat/mcp and @buychat/ncp-sdk are published on npm.

Why it matters for Nigerian commerce

Nigeria's social commerce runs on trust, and the thing that makes it work — payment released only after delivery — is exactly what makes it safe for an AI agent to transact too. Opening the marketplace to agents means the next generation of AI assistants can shop Nigerian vendors safely, on the buyer's behalf, without ever asking anyone to pay before delivery.
