Fees & Pricing

BuyChat is a payment-protected marketplace. We hold the buyer's money safely and release it to the seller only after the buyer confirms delivery. We keep the platform running with one simple, transparent charge: a small protection fee on completed transactions, taken from the seller's payout. There are no hidden charges and no surprises at checkout.

In short: buyers pay exactly the price shown (plus delivery when a rider is involved), and sellers pay a flat protection fee when their money is released. That's it.

The price — nothing added. When you pay for an order, you pay exactly the price shown. There is no buyer-side service fee or commission.

Delivery fee. ₦700 for orders that need a rider. Delivery is free on orders of ₦20,000 or more. Services and digital items have no delivery fee. For rides and dispatch, the delivery/fare is agreed with the rider (see below). The delivery fee goes to your dispatcher — we don't mark it up.

Example: on a ₦10,000 product you pay exactly ₦10,000, plus ₦700 delivery if a rider is involved. Your ₦10,000 is held safely by BuyChat until you confirm delivery; the ₦700 goes to your dispatcher.

Sellers pay a single protection fee on each completed sale, deducted from your payout when the buyer confirms delivery. It is a flat ladder — never a percentage:

• Orders up to ₦5,000 → ₦100
• ₦5,001 – ₦10,000 → ₦200
• ₦10,001 – ₦15,000 → ₦300
• And so on — ₦100 for every ₦5,000 (or part of it) in the order subtotal.

The fee is deducted automatically when your payment is released, and your statement shows it as its own line: the full sale amount credited, then the protection fee deducted. Your buyer always pays exactly your price — the fee never touches them.

For rides and dispatch, the same protection ladder applies to the fare — ₦100 per started ₦5,000 — and the driver keeps the rest. On a ₦3,000 ride the driver earns ₦2,900 and BuyChat keeps ₦100.

Fares are quoted up front based on distance and vehicle type, and can be negotiated with the rider before you accept.

Swap is an exchange, not a purchase. You give an item, you get an item (shoes for a cap, a generator for a fridge). There is no item price, so the ladder can't apply — instead:

Each person pays a fixed ₦500 (₦1,000 total). That is not payment for the item. Both pay because a swap has no buyer. We hold the money until both items have arrived: one person sends, the other confirms, then the other sends, then confirm. When the swap completes, BuyChat keeps both fees. If you cancel before anyone sends, both fees come back.

The ₦10,000 is held safely by BuyChat from the moment you pay until you confirm delivery. If something goes wrong, our team steps in and your money is protected. If you don't confirm within 72 hours of delivery, payment releases automatically so honest sellers aren't left waiting. Your statement shows the full sale amount and the protection fee as separate lines, so every naira is traceable.

Moving your wallet balance to your bank costs a flat ₦100 per withdrawal, with a ₦100 minimum. We do not take a percentage. The bank transfer itself is handled by our payment partners and that cost is absorbed by BuyChat — you are never charged a gateway fee to withdraw.

On eligible orders you can pay the dispatcher in cash at your door. The fees are exactly the same as paying online — the buyer pays exactly the price, the dispatcher collects the full total and remits it, the seller is credited their net after the protection fee, and BuyChat keeps the fee. Cash on delivery is capped at ₦50,000 per order and is only available where the seller has enabled it.

We may adjust these fees over time. Any change is reflected on this page and applied only to orders placed after the change. a placed order is always settled on the fees shown when you paid.
