This Cookie & Storage Policy explains how X Word Wide Limited ("X Word Wide", "we", "us", or "our") stores information on your device when you use BuyChat.

It applies to the BuyChat website at buychat.ng and to our mobile applications for iOS and Android (collectively, the "Service").

This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data more broadly.

2. What We Use Instead of Cookies

BuyChat does not use traditional browser cookies. Instead, we use your browser's built-in localStorage to remember your preferences and keep you signed in.

What is localStorage? localStorage is a standard web technology that lets a website save small pieces of text directly in your browser. Unlike cookies, this data is never automatically sent to a server with every request — it stays in your browser until you or the app intentionally uses it.

Crucially, localStorage data stored by buychat.ng is only accessible to the BuyChat website. No other website can read it, and we do not share it with any third parties.

BuyChat uses no third-party cookies, no tracking pixels, and no advertising scripts.

3. What We Store Locally

The table below lists every item we store in your browser's localStorage:

4. What We Don't Do

BuyChat does not:

✗Use third-party tracking cookies of any kind
✗Place advertising pixels or retargeting tags on your device
✗Track your activity across other websites (cross-site tracking)
✗Use browser fingerprinting techniques
✗Sell or share the data stored on your device
✗Use analytics tools that collect personally identifiable information (PII)

Any aggregate analytics we collect (such as page-view counts) do not identify you personally and are used solely to improve the Service.

5. Mobile App Storage

Our native mobile apps store data locally on your device using the platform's recommended secure storage mechanisms.

iOS

•Keychain — stores your authentication token; hardware-encrypted by the Secure Enclave.
•UserDefaults — stores non-sensitive preferences (theme, language).
•APNs token — Apple Push Notification Service token for delivering order and chat alerts.

Android

•EncryptedSharedPreferences — stores your authentication token with AES-256 encryption.
•SharedPreferences — stores non-sensitive preferences (theme, language).
•Firebase Cloud Messaging token — used to deliver push notifications for orders and chat.

Camera & Microphone

The app only accesses your camera or microphone when you explicitly initiate a feature that requires it (e.g. QR code scanning or voice chat). These permissions can be revoked at any time through your device's Settings app.

6. Your Choices

You are in control of the data stored on your device.

Clear web storage

You can clear all localStorage data BuyChat has stored by clearing your browser's site data (Settings → Privacy → Clear browsing data, or the equivalent in your browser). Note that this will sign you out and reset your preferences.

Disable push notifications

•iOS: Settings → Notifications → BuyChat → Allow Notifications (toggle off)
•Android: Settings → Apps → BuyChat → Notifications (toggle off)

Revoke camera or microphone permissions

On both iOS and Android, navigate to your device's Settings → Apps → BuyChat → Permissions, and toggle off Camera or Microphone. The relevant features will be unavailable until you re-grant permission.

7. Changes and Contact

We may update this Cookie & Storage Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised version with a new "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes that affect your rights, we will update the consent banner on buychat.ng so you are made aware.

Continued use of the Service after any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
